Pinto Horses: Pattern, Genetics & Common Breeds

Posted on October 7, 2026October 8, 2026 By uzma riaz

A pinto is a horse with large patches of white and another color on its coat. Pinto is not a breed, it is a coat pattern that can appear in many breeds. Two common patterns are tobiano and overo, and they look different from each other. Pinto horses are popular because every one has its own unique markings.
